FYI, from what I have gathered on these forums and in my own personal experience, Windows Me is probably the worse OS that Microsoft has written. It's not you at all. Definately get a computer than can run Windows XP. XP is much more stable and bug free by comparison. I agree with purchasing a Dell if you are looking for the least inexpensive computer possible. It is not possible to build and equivalent computer for $500-600. You may want to increase the RAM to 1 gig.
If you do not know your computer specs you can go to Belarc.com and download the free Belarc Advisor software. People here will be able to tell you if it is worth running XP on your current computer or if it is better to purchase a new computer.
