Question is in sound I want to play audio on my TV and desktop speakers (not bothered if it's at the same time or not)

Question is will the stereo be preserved? so if I play a sound on the left channel will it do that on both my desktop speakers left channel AND TV left speaker? and not split it so the left/right of the TV is the left channel and desktop speakers is the right kinda something silly like that.
