Resolution of 700:1 or above(although 500 isn't bad). Response time below 12ms unless heavy gaming is going to be done(Then go with a lower response time). These two specs are probably the average found now and do the job well for most needs. The one other spec that could be important to you is digital input vs.analog. Many have both options. In my needs the difference is barely perceptible (although I do go ahead and run with digital). Check out Newegg's reviews to learn other opinions too!
