I agree Iman. Do what is easiest first. I guess to me reinstalling/upgrading IE isn't a huge deal. But to each their own. If you want to reinstall/upgrade IE here is the link for that.

Another note, if you do upgrade, (I don't see why you wouldn't want to) then all your favorites will migrate from IE 6 to IE 7 just fine and you won't have to re-link to all of those sites.
