Yeah Opera 5.12 is Cool despite the bugs/ussues

Howdy

Yeah when I first started using OPera 5.12 I loved it because I run DUN on an old split line which will only do 28.8/31.2 Kbps max . I actually pay for full 56K digital but I get less than V.34 ! Well my connection ran like a dog with IE 5.0/5.5 and Win 98 2nd ed.
Opera 5.12 made my connection look like full 56K ! I was wrapped until the bug/issues list started piling up.

I still think Opera has plenty of potential and look forward to future versions
with less bugs. It runs very quickly compared to IE which is very memory hungry and slow. When I first started using Opera I thought Internet christmas had arrived and madly emailed my friends until the bug list started to grow.

For speed it is still a great browser. I guess a good/fast browser must be fairly complex to write so the bugs aren't that surprising. MS have had a long time to perfect IE. I just wish they wouldn't build in so much stuff though. It slows IE down and not that many people use all the fruit.

I just want lean, mean browseing and reliable downloads. That's it !

I was surprised just how many different bugs I found in OPera 5.12 . There are many sites it has issues with and just can't display. The ZOOM feature just shreds my browser window (wish it worked). Opera Software support are pretty helpfull and responsive though.

I had a lot of trouble getting Opera to sign into hotmail (crashed every time).
Opera Software don't seem to know why but I do know it doesn't sign into hotmail on Win 98 2nd editon. It does work with Win 98 1st edition though and
Win 95.

I have switched to Win 95 on my old P60/66/90 systems and these run nice and fast
with IE 5.5, 32MB and a V.34 Winmodem

I may not bother with Win 98 or the other stuff again. Eventually I hope to switch to Linux.

Anyways

chou
