Firefox stores backed up bookmarks in your profile folder, as long as your using version 1.5 or greater. here is the path

C:\Documents and Settings\ "user" \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ "profile folder".default
user = username
profile folder = alpha-numerically named folder
