I have a Linsys DSL/Cable router and AtGuard firewall, and so far it's very effective. I used to get probed at least 10 times a night - now nothing gets through to my firewall - Linky takes care of it all.
Linksys supports DSL no problem - just sometimes it can be a hussle to make FTP server and things like that to work through the router.
did u say u have a phoneline network? If so there's even a router model that allows u to set this up.
