Hi bhome83,

Is this front earphone jack port found on the CD-ROM drive? That one only works when you want to listen to a music CD playing in the CD-ROM. Any other sounds, like MP3's or sound files on the hard drive, won't play through that port. You'll have to plug the earphones into the speaker or output port on the soundcard.

I think I remember a company that made a front multimedia panel that connected wires from the soundcard ports from the back of the PC to the panel fitted in the 5.25" drive bay. I forget the name of the device and I'm not sure if it's still available.
