Check you Modem disk to see if it has a setup program. If it does then the way you install it will be to close the Windows Hardware detection window and then run the setup from the disk. You will also need to have your Windows disk handy since it will probably want it during installation.
Before you do this, do not forget to go and remove the modem from the device manager.
