Having done a little video editing via a matrox rainbow runner card one thing is important, LOTS of memory and BIG hard drives are needed, the video files are very large and memory hungry.
The actual usage of the hardware (vdeo camera etc) is fairly simple, the card I had came with all the appropriate software needed, from memory it was Media Studio Pro V 5, or something like that.
the 800 mhz Duron should be able to manage, but if you get hooked and want to do a lot of video editing, you may find a complete upgrade a very good idea.
All you need is the capture card and software, the cables and connectors come with the card, watch out tho, they dont come cheap.
