Jenni, the difference between AOL and Earthlink is night and day. AOL adds an interference layer (their spam engine and other proprietary bulls***) between you and the internet. Earthlink doesn't. Imagine two people running a race, one has combat boots and full military pack(AOL) and one has a proper racing outfit including running shoes(Earthlink). If you can see that you get the picture.
PS. As long as only one person is on the net at a time you will be alright with Earthlink. Just don't let more than one access the account simultaneously.
