Let's stop the bickering and slamming, please.

Does your computer meet the minimum specs for that modem? Many newer modems require a lot more horsepower than a P133 to work. The HAM modem is not known for being a quality, stable modem to begin with, it uses the (former) Cirrus Logic chipset.

I personally would use an external serial modem or an internal ISA hardware based modem in that machine, with either a Conexant/Rockwell or US Robotics chipset. Winmodems or software controlled modems will not work right, if at all, in a machine with a processor that speed.
