Here are the jumper settings for WD SATA notebook drives:

There is no master/slave/cable select. Kilgore is correct. Not all brands and models of SATA drives use a jumper to lock it down to 1.5 either.

Are you sure you aren't referring to a IDE notebook drive? Those in fact do have master/slave/cable select jumpers.
