Question Acrobat Reader/Saving forms to Insert Text?

Hi All,
I find a lot of forms on the internet in PDF format that I would like to save to my PC so I can enter typed text on them instead of hand written. I have Acrobat Reader on my PC, but I can't find a way to save these forms other than sending them to myself as an e-mail attachment. Even then I can only save them as an attachment and can not insert text. I can only print them. Does anyone know how to save this type of form (.PDF format) in another format so I can enter text and then print or am I just wasting my time?
