I'll have to echo what rjf is saying. You should currently be running at least IE7. It's stable and more up-to-date than IE6. IE6 has not changed since August 2004, and is vulnerable to all sorts of nasty malware out there.
If you really have to use IE at all, use IE7.
If you need a browser, I would recommend avoiding IE altogether and go with firefox or opera. IE is a magnet for malware, and out of all the service jobs I do, 90% of the time, the user had been using IE as their primary browser.
