Me too!
I too have Kaspersky AV and my computer was just infected over this last weekend (8/08/09), it really sucks. I am not versed in computers AT ALL! So my problem is this. I noticed the virus, or worm, or trojan or whatever it is. Read that Spyware Doctor was a good tool for getting rid of it. Bought Spyward Doctor, ran initial search it was found and removed. Ran FULL scan, it found it again and said it removed it again. Tried to then run my Kaspersky AV and it started the Full Scan, but in the middle of the scan it started a Kaspersky update and that froze my entire computer. Had to do a hard shut down. Booted up, tried running a full Scan on Kaspersky again, and it stalled again at 61% complete and froze my entire computer again...
Did some reading today at work, and will try to boot up and install Malwarebytes? when I get home. Also heard that with this AVG is good, but might mess up itunes?? I have to admit my computer was not perfect before this problem and I need help on several levels. My biggest concern is being able to back up my pictures and videos (have 11 month old twin girls and their entire first year of life is on my computer). I have purchased an external harddrive to back up my stuff, it will arrive on Wed. But will the virus transfer to the new harddrive if I copy my files to it?
Another issue, I have an HP 2005 Media Edition, with windows XP on it. Suddenly about 5 months ago it would no longer let me create CDs or DVDs of image files. I can create music discs, just can't back up my pictures and videos to disc anymore. PLEASE HELP!
