The motherboard does not have any impact on what kind of ram the video card uses. The 8600GT is quite a bit slower than the HD4650, although it will still be a decent improvement over the 6600GT. For the extra $10, the HD4650 will provide a considerable improvement over the 8600GT, however if you just want a replacement for the 6600GT for the lowest cost possible and are not too concerned about improved performance, the 8600GT may be a better buy.
