Here in NZ i don't really think that people have changed their day to day lives..
Initially there was a small amount of extra frugality, but otherwise it's pretty much business as usual.. People are more concerned about the ramifications of what the war could possibly be on the places you can go in the world and look "western", rather than the effect it will have on your wallet..
Personally i blame the media for this supposed recession, "they" said there was going to be a recession and "they" are now saying that "they" were right.. but when i look around.. i don't see it in the average joe.. personally i'm with heidthebaw in that the big companies are using it as a neat excuse to dump off employees in order to keep their profit margins the same..
somehow i can't see large, well established airlines not having money "put away for a rainy day"..? do airlined sail so close to the wind that a month of less than usual turnover will all but sink it?
or is it the fact that i'm sooo far away from america, and am a little suspicious of everything that goes into the news (with good reason.. but that's another thread..

) that i've not seen the whole picture.. from reading these forums (and others) people aren't letting the 11/9/01 attacks hinder their thrift..
