Install Java or leave it out?
I've been debating whether or not do keep including Java in the standard group of programs I install for prepping workstations, or leave it out.
I've been finding that when cleaning up machines, the Java cache tends to be full of malware. I suspect it may sometimes be the point of infection.
Outside of programming or web development, I don't really see many legitimate stand-alone applications requiring a JVM. Additionally, it's rare to see a website using Java, now that Flash is fully entrenched and HTML5 is starting to gain some favor (to replace flash).
So, I'm gearing this question to fellow techs--what do you think? Is it time to abandon Java as part of a standard OS install?
