Thanks! Used the supplied cable in all instances; to this primary machine and to the laptop. Wireless option IS disabled.

Yes, it does. But then it disappears if I select the iPod for any activity.

I've tried the two ports that are handy, a USB 3.0 and a 2.0. I'll try a couple of others on the back of the machine.
