Linksys wireless router toast?

Few days back lost all internet connections. Contacted EarthLink and restored the connection. But cannot get the Linksys wrt54g wireless router to work.

The house is hardwired with CAT cable and also has a wireless network. Originally connected the modem to the Linksys- had a few hardwires in the router and some more in another switch. Then after the internet connection was restored it seems that the router is toast. Here's what I've tried today.

1- Connected computer directly to the modem thru hardwire- internet works.
2- Connect modem to Linksys- no internet. This was the original setup.
3- Connect modem to Ethernet switch instead of Linksys- have internet. Then swapped out this 5 port switch with an 8 port switch and connected all wires to this and everything works everything works fine
4- Then connected the Linksys to this switch and it seemed to give a wireless connection for a few minutes. Changed the name of the home network during this and then lost all internet connections- wired and wireless.
5-Disconnected the Linksys and everything seems back to normal.

I'm not sure if this is a sign of a bad router, or one that is not configured correctly.
