I'm thinking it was wired in directly to the heatsink/ pump but without knowing who makes it or a model number it's hard to determine how it was supposed to be hooked up. It would be easier to omit the water cooler and get a stocker since you plan on selling it. No reason to make it better for someone else except for marketability purposes. You also have to consider a return on that thing too if the water cooler were to spring a leak the day after the new owner took possession of it. Then you would have to deal with that headache on top of everything else. Better to cut loose any unknowns and go from there.
