New build - Win XP won't load
Just built a new computer and Windows XP will go thru the loading of files and then when it gets to starting windows get a blue screen and says windows had to stop.
Both drives are recognized in BIOS. Have first device set to CD drive and then to SSD (Samsung 840 Pro). BIOS says that AHCI is set as default (SSD is on 6.0 #1) and CD drive is set on 3.0 #3.
Have tried 3 different XP Pro discs, 2 are MS legitimate discs (from University and have used them many times) and the 3rd is a copy with SP3 slipstreamed. All stop at the same place. Ultimately will load Win 7 Ultimate but because it is an "upgrade disc" I have to have at least XP on with the product key, which I have.
MoBo is an ASUS P8Z77-V LK, CPU is Intel I5-3570L, Ram is Corsair 8gb, all the basically recommended stuff on this site (well all except the Samsung SSD instead of the Intel).
Any help would be appreciated. Never run across this before.
