Also, I don't know if this still applies or not, but internet connection sharing with AOL cannot be simultaneous. The AOL network only allows one screen name from each account to be logged on at once. I also found that even though there is an active connection, the computer that is not directly connected to the internet (not the gateway computer), if the connection is through AOL it will not access any outside resources. That was a few years ago, so I don't know if it still applies today.
That's just something to think about.

I hit a similar networking problem when i was trying to network two windows me computers with my win 2k computer. the win me's couldn't browse anything on the win 2k computer. they all had valid IP addresses, and could ping each other, but actaully accessing each others resources wasn't working. I see you have NetBEUI installed on the windows 98 computer, but is it also installed on the 2000?
