I've got such a cable from Radio Shack for like 5 bucks or something
It's got RCA (red/white) plugs for the stereo output and 1/8" stereo plug on the other end going into the soundcard. I've used it for recording from a Tascam 4-track tape as well as standard cassettes for burning CDs of live music with no problems. Should work fine for vinyl as well. there are lots of shareware programs out there for capturing/recording/editing. One place to find them is at
www.tucows.com. Cooledit 2000 and supersonic are two good programs.
