It could be an ABIT thing

Hi Jenny, Cricket

Well I tried everything I could, but no go. Now when I talked to the Tech Help at Logitech, she giggled and said at one point " Our mice seem to have a mind of there own" Well I don't think a mouse has a mind, and what's most important to me now.

It the Mouse has no dirty ball. But to be honest with you ABIT has had a slew of usb problems. All 4 of my USBs work well, if I didn't mind that my Mustek scanner, and external 250mb ZIP never worked as well as my new internal 250mb ZIP or my Astra Parallel port Scanner.

What I mean is Logitech is well aware that some peoples Computers will not run that mouse on usb or they would not have put the PS2 adapter in with it.

Don't take me wrong I believe that all some people have to do is plug allmost anything into their Computer and it just pops right in. I allways have trouble installing hardware. You would think if it were just me, that just once I could get it right when it asks. Have own disk? I have never gotten past that point, I put the disk in an play, Ok, Ok, Ok, until I shut down out of frustration.

Boot up put the CD in and pray that it self starts. If it does I win and follow the wizard until it installs.

Ok just the facts: I uninstalled everything Logitech. I shutdown. I pluged mouse into usb 1. Boot up and watch the cursor. I tried this on 1.2.3.4. USB ports. I installed both mice 1, in USB 1, in PS2. I put a mouse into PS2 because it was getting old real fast, only having the enter button to navagate.

I then went to add new hardware. It was there, optical mouse so I clicked on it and tried to let windows find it then, I tried to find. These are some of the things that went on. Put in CD 98SE, C:\windows\temp\CDminstall, hidserv.exe could not be found, Error code1FB, Windows did not detect a mouse. then at one time a blue bar came from the right side and said , you have a message from Logitech. I was hoping Logitech

At this point right now, I have a functional mouse and 1 program in my add/Remove programs (MouseWare)not the 4 others that were in there before.

I have a fairly logical mind so here goes. Both ZIP & Scanner never worked as good on USB as on, LPT & IDE. Logitech sells me a mouse with a possable 800DPI but includes a PS2 adaptor. I still don't know what 800 DPI in your mouse will do over my 400 DPI. Now who in there right mind would put this adaptor on their new mouse to run it at 1/2 the rated DPI? Why would Logitech let you have an adaptor that made there product half as good as it could be? I am so frustrated at this exercise in Futility. I need to calm down and read a little about HTML and enjoy my new Mouse, that just hours ago I thought was the greatest new device to come out since the first mouse.

I am truly sorry if I screwed this all up, but I tried everything.
