I currently use a 16 meg banshee by creative..Yes I know it is old but it is what I have. I like 3DFX however I hear that they don't lience their product to other companies and that is why NVidia came out with the Gforce series....I believe using Direct Draw instead of 3Dfx's glide...
I like using glide and some of my games look best using glide. However more and more gaming companies are making their products to use Direct Draw for 3D instead of Glide.

If 3DFX has allowed other companies to use Glide the programmer would have continued to program with 3DFX and NVidia would not have the lead that they do now...Just my opinions....
