I've got a pretty good plumbing story.

In the last apartment I was in, the valve in the toilet tank wasn't working correct, and the tank wasn't filling. So, coming home one Saturday night, I saw that the tank was empty. I took off the cover to see what was wrong, but upon touching the valve it broke off, sending water straight up into the air and all over everything. I tried the shut-off valve, but it was so old that even closing it entirely did very little to stop the flow. To make this even better, the landlord was out of town that weekend, leaving no real contact person. The water ended up going through two floors below us. What a nice weekend it was!
