What version AOL are we talking about here? NT and earlier 32 bit AOL versions did not get along well at ALL - I have a hunch that you might be dealing with 3.0 or 4.0 16 bit (the help - about will say "for Windows 3.1) - and if this is the case, you will never get a standalone "Winsock" app running without putting a standard DUN isp on it or trying to get AOL 5.0 on it.
