No need to map the LPT port - just make sure the port you are trying to print to is the shared port (i.e. \\mypc\hp).

I would really recommend that you hook the printer up on the parallel port instead of the USB port and save the USB for other devices. Printers STILL work better on LPT than USB.

The correct way to connect to the shared printer and install it is open Network Neighborhood (or My Network Places) and browse to the shared printer, right click on it, and select either Install or Connect.
