I'll take a try. My best guess was that something else changed in the configuration, and for some reason, RH cannot get a quick 'handle' of what your video card is. Like maybe you added another pci card or something, that confused the installer. This doesn't mean you can't install XFree86, and a GUI. It just means you're stuck with the text based installer, until you run the configuration, and 'tell' the install, what hardware it's talking to. This, if I'm not mistaken, was the last version, before the latest version of XFree86 came out. Six point two, ran ok, on some of the older hardware, as the gui, was less demanding as the current is. If your machine is fast enough, however, I would opt. for a newer distribution, for the ease of use, and better hardware support. If you're running an older box, though, the slower performance will be an issue. If you only have a dial up, the later gpl linux versions can be purchased on disk at places like www.lsl.com or http://www.linuxcentral.com or similar places. Good luck on your install.
