Give this a whirl:
Start up your Acrobat Reader independently of your browser, then -

Click on the File dropdown menu and highlight the Preferences then General options.

Once there, remove the check from the WEB BROWSER INTEGRATION box (located in the bottom section of the General Options box), then click OK. (This should cause a window for a particular PDF file to pop up with the PDF file you want to view displayed - for IE5.0 and up).

Go to the link for the file that you are interested in, and RIGHT-click on the link for that file.

Highlight the SAVE TARGET AS (in IE 5.0 and up) option and save the PDF file to your hard drive, and

Open Acrobat Reader independently of your browser, locate and open the file you just downloaded.
