For file transfer in messenger this is the advice on the Microsoft help site.

"Both incoming and outgoing TCP connections use this range of ports 6891 to 6900.
The TCP ports need to be configured so that sockets on a port remain open for extended periods of time"

Nowhere is there an explanation of how to check or do this.

I think that I am going to have to give up.
