I will still take a BX chipset over anything else Intel makes and certainly over anything from Via et al. I am not anti/pro-AMD or anti/pro-Intel - I just recognize a superior design that has aged better than anything else out there - and will still perform well enough for 98% of my customers and more importantly, is STABLE and BUG-FREE.

My most popular system these days is still a Katmai P3-550 on a Shuttle or Epox BX board.

You guys that are looking for the last bit of performance are always going to have problems. This is not intended to be derogatory - the stuff you guys do and the jams you find yourself in are very educational to the manufacturers!

I suppose computers today are like cars were 30 years ago. We used to try to squeeze the last bit of performance and efficiency we could get out of our cars, and we always would screw something up in the process. Today you can't *do* much with cars without running afoul of the law, much less finding a way to actually do it. 30 years ago, we just advanced the timing till it pinged like hell and either backed it off or bought better gas. Then we drilled out the carb jets. I blew more than one hole in a piston from doing this......

AMD and Intel.........Ford and Chevy?

Camaro lovers think Mustangs suck, and vice versa.
