As to the Pentium I II III IV. Why stop ... Intel has great name recognition with the pentium line of chips. If they change the name they will have to start over again with the name recognition.
I also agree with byte.. I wouldn't have touched an AMD two years ago. The last machine that I built was a K6/2 500 that ran rock solid. I used it as my personal system and loved it. I finally sold it to a friend and now I'm trying to decide which processor I want to go with.
