IE5.5

I've only been dinking around with pcs for about 10 years, have heard of those systems, everything from win 3.1, 95, 98, browsers, NS & IE where people have nothing but crashes and slow performance.

I have ran all of these, have had a fair share of my own crashes, most notably with win95. Funny, I upgraded to 98, everyone that had 95 had minimal to no crashes, and mine crashed several times every day. with 98 I have yet to have a crash, a blue screen or any other problem.

Programs, those we d/l and install,(like WindowBlinds, LiteStep, ect.) combined with not removing programs the proper way, not keeping our registry clean, ect, ect. that is what seems to cause the high percentage of crashes.

There is a certain procedure to follow in maintaining ones computer, as well as learning some key DOS commands to keep things running smooth, especially for us geekers. It is the average computer user who has yet to learn, or does not care to learn who will experience the largets amount of crashes and then not know how to stop them.

I am also a strong believer in Partition Magic, with the OS on one partition, all other programs on another partition. This cuts down on the time to reformat/clean reinstall. Not to mention that you can have other partitions; one for important files, docs, text, another partition for "temps" and so on. Best money ever spent.

If they could all know about this site, they would soon join us geekers and drastically cut down on the crashes and other problems.

Enjoy your input and the info, keep em coming.
