You might like to go to http://www.cotse.com/miniunix.htm and look at the mini-linux page.There are a number of versions of linux-unix that fit on 1 or 2 1.44mb floppies.You load them on a ramdisk and all hdd options are disabled so it vanishes whenever you restart the system. This looks like a great way to learn unix without having to repartition and worry about bootloaders-you just learn how to use the operating system.HTH
