It sounds like an issue with your ISP. Maybe your user name or password is failing because of an upper/lower case issue. If they used MAC addresses you wouldn't think they would have let you sign in with the new computer. But possibly now it recognizes the new NIC and not yours anymore. If you are getting as far as the password the issue is between your computer and theirs. I would give them a call and see why you can't connect your account.
If they do use MAC addresses and you work on very many computers it might be a good idea to buy a router and clone your address with it. That way you can hook up all the "strange" computers you want without affecting your account.
