You can also take the ball out of the bottom. Take a look where the ball was. And clean off all the gunk left by engine grease if you work outside like I do. or other gunk.

With your finger nails.

Will also save gunk put on my optical mouse schtuff!

While you know where your hands have been; you don't know where other hands of the household have.
