The software that came with your system should have some sort of mixer -- usually you'll find it hiding in there.

Otherwise if you are using WinXP, goto Start--->Settings--->Control Panel--->Sound and Audio Devices. From there click Advanced under Speaker Settings and select 5.1 Surround from the pulldown list. Click Okay. Then click Advanced... under Device Volume and then click Advanced under Play Control. Make sure there is a check mark by Digital Output Only. If your not getting anything at that point, you've got me -- that's how mine are set up so it should work for any digital S/PDIF compliant output.
