Ok, both of your usb ports don't work or just one? If both don't work, did you make sure all usb ports are enabled in the bios? Double check all the pins, make sure they're all pushed down good. Try making sure the writing on the black is facing out from the center of the two pins. ::::: two rows face top row ^^ then face the bottom row vv . Thats how mine are. If just one is working I'd still try what I stated above. Also if you can see, make sure the wires are actually connected to the front port(s).
As for the fire wire, I myself would just hook up the wires to the pins, leaving out the 1 pwr and 2 gnds. I'm pretty sure it won't hurt, but not 100%.
Instead of emailing their customer support, call them or write a real hand written letter. Tell them how unhappy you are with their product and you demand some attention, or you will consider a different brand next time. Its worth a shot. You can also try contacting Asus. If this is a common problem they will prob know about it.
And hey buddy, Its no problem, I'm happy to help..err...trying anyway...lol
Good Luck
