Just to stir the pot a little, get a 933 PIII. I've read 3 reviews now that put it above the gigahertz AMD

Kidding aside, get what you're comfortable with. In the 800 PIII, you should get a 133Mhz bus, faster is better. The only downside is the availability of a good chipset board (I've just never been a fan of VIA). So if you want to avoid VIA, your only choices are the 820 chipset with RDRAM which is VERY expensive and probably going to step aside to DDR. Next choice would be to step down to a 100Mhz bus and a good BX board.
