There was a story a couple nights ago on tv that talked about sub life. They said the guys on this sub went down for 6 months at a time, but they could email their families every so often. So, it's not like they're totally cut off from everyone. One guy, they said, even emailed his daughter every night. They also talked about the bedding accomodations. I think they said they used a term "hotbedding" or something like that, cuz they work in shifts. When you go to bed, the bed may still be warm from the guy that was just there before you but had to get up for his shift. I don't think I could handle the tight spaces. I'm not exactly what you'd call claustrophobic, but I like my space.
