Nuke: When you do your network, just get a router and use the RJ-45 port. I remember reading one of your posts complaining that your 256 connection is only running at 177? I'd bet that the USB overhead might be eating some of your bandwidth.
Expensive? If you look around 80 gigs is under $200 and 200 gigs is under $400. More expensive than internal IDE, yes, but not "very" expensive. Any external storage device will be more expensive than an equivalent internal device, but you gain portability which is important to some people, you can keep a backup off-site, for example, or plug it into a laptop - and it's a lot faster and easier to use than tapes, and they hold a lot more than CD-R's and Zip cartridges.
