Colonialism has failed in the past, and I doubt this will be any different. Especially given that new reports are that the U.S. will be running Iraq alone, with a civilian administration under the direct control of the military. Unilateralism again.
There is no question that the world will be better off without Saddam. But at what cost will that come? Is it worth destroying U.S. alliances,
enraging tens of millions in the Middle East, trashing cooperative international bodies, and damaging U.S. credibility with our bizarre and sometimes laughable lies to get rid of Saddam? That seems like fixing a leaky roof by burning down your house.
