HDs run cooler than most people think, at about 90 - 100°F -- SCSI drives are the ones that run hot and generaly fans are used with them, not IDE drives. Using my personal system for example, I have No front fans at all in my system, and it has a pair of 120 gig HDs and a 2700+ CPU with a stock / retail HS/fan combo.
