Well athlon chipsets and boards were in the past very picky about ram, especially some of the first generation boards. Some newer boards still are, like the Asus A7V. What makes this ram you're buying so special I don't know..but it must meet Amd's requirements so that's probably why it's sold as compatible with those chipsets. Don't know if it would work in Intel chipset boards or not...guess you'd have to try to find out HTH
