It's not necessarily faster itself, but more cache can increase overall system speed by having more data cached. You want everything to be in cache, so the cpu doesnt have to reach too far to get the data. Some new cpus have like a meg of cache running at 3gig. Nice. There are older cpus that have a meg too, slot2 xeons often had a meg running at the core cpu speed. A dual mobo with xeons running at 933 or so, with a meg of cache each, would be a fine box indeed.
