Question DVD-ROM Drive not recognised by WindowsXP

I installed WindowsXP Pro on a friends computer but have a problem with their installed Samsung DVD-ROM Drive.

Although the BIOS recognises the drive as a DVD-ROM drive as soon as WindowsXP Pro boots it only recognises it as a CD-ROM drive (it says CD-Drive in my "My Computer"). It refuses to recognise DVD-ROM's and will not play movies using PowerDVD although CD's work fine.

Strangely the System Properties though correctly identifies it as a "SAMSUNG DVD-ROM DRIVE".

Any ideas?
