Do you have a driver CD for the card? If you do, just try running the driver installation feature.

Does the new card or the old card now show up in the device manager?

Try removing the display drivers from the device manager, reboot, and see if it detects the new card. If not, try going into the control panel and running the add/remove hardware application.
